Any home mash housing not certified will not be able to accept clients from state agencies until certified. A contract was awarded to the Massachusetts Alliance for Sober Housing (MASH) to be the certifying body, and the training and technical assistance vendor. At Saint Paul Spirit House we provide a safe and encouraging environment for men to build a new and healthy lifestyle. Through 12-step recovery programs, accountability, structure, and stability, the men in our homes are achieving long-term success in their sobriety. We encourage our residents to become engaged in the community they live in through organized activities and recovery-related events and service opportunities. Every house has an on-site manager who works with the resident to help them acclimate to the community they live in, answer questions and provide guidance as they begin to build a network of support in the Saint Paul sober community.

Beyond certification, sober houses must comply with local and state regulations. Violations of health and safety codes can result in fines ranging from $100 to $500 per day. Repeated violations may lead to court orders mandating compliance or temporary closures until issues are resolved. Our team encourages residents to become part of the vast Serenity Village family which consists of healthy people with solid spiritual foundations. Damascus Way is a halfway house program serving men with criminal histories. Assistance in finding employment, permanent housing, and a support community is offered. But more than that, we provide opportunities for our residents to consider the deeper issues of their lives. At Christ Satisfies Housing, we offer (for the choice of the individual client) both an AA/NA track to programming using the big book model and/or a Faith-Based approach using biblical concepts.

Applying for ATR funding involves several steps to ensure eligibility and secure financial support. Our scholarship program provides a woman with her first month’s rent in a MASH-approved / Rise Againapproved sober house. When a scholarship is awarded, Rise Again works directly with the sober house. Seasonal offerings like rowing, kayaking, and sailing, along with tradition holistic pursuits, like massage, Reiki, Tai-Chi, Qigong and meditation are all designed to bring joy back into a person’s life.

Our main focus is to provide a safe and sober environment for recovering addicts and alcoholics. We wish to help people grow and return to society as productive members. We believe in working a recovery continuum that best suits each individual. Transition (e.g. entry, phase movement and exit) rituals promote residents’ sense of belonging and confer progressive status and increasing opportunities within the recovery living environment and community.

MASH maintains a large, public list of members with detailed information about rent payments as well as deposits. This information is very helpful when conducting market research on existing sober living in the state. The rental income information, in particular, is very useful for predicting profit margins. If approved, ATR funding will be paid directly to the sober house to cover housing costs.

Counseling Services & Education

Staff and/or resident leaders educate residents about local community-based resources. Peer support interactions among residents are facilitated to expand responsibilities for personal and community recovery. ”Bureau”, the bureau of substance abuse services established in section 18.
